As we previously reported, Mary DeMarle has joined Bioware, and Bioware Project Director Michael Gamble has now confirmed that she will be working with the Mass Effect 5 team.
Mary DeMarle previously worked on Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy and the Deus Ex franchise and has a reputation for creating complex, narratively satisfying characters.
Oh, hey!
I’m really excited to let you know that Mary DeMarle will be joining the Mass Effect team as Senior Narrative Director. You’ve seen her work in Guardians of the Galaxy & Deus Ex (to name a few!). She’s amazing.— Michael Gamble (@GambleMike) July 4, 2022
These skills should be a welcome addition to the Mass Effect 5 production team as the Mass Effect franchise is well known for its focus on complex narratives and well-written characters.
Mass Effect 5 was revealed as part of 2021’s N7 day, and since then, we have had no substantial updates on its expected release date.
The development of Mass Effect 5 is expected to swing into full effect sometime in 2023 – which would make sense given the addition of Mary DeMarle to the team in preparation for development.
