Mary DeMarle, formerly the narrative director of Deus Ex, has confirmed on Linkedin that she is joining Bioware – where she is likely going to help work on Dragon Age: Dreadwolf and the Mass Effect franchise.
Given the well-regarded standing of the Deus Ex games and her work in the recent Guardians of the Galaxy game, this news should be welcome to any Bioware fans concerned over the narrative of its upcoming sequels.

Bioware is working on the fourth game in the Dragon Age series, Dreadwolf, which will follow up on the highly-successful Dragon Age Inquisition in 2014. We have been promised more information about Dreadwolf later this year.
The addition of DeMarle is welcome news for Bioware fans, as the developer’s reputation for narrative masterpieces has been damaged in recent years.
This is due to the disappointment around 2017’s Mass Effect: Andromeda, as well as 2019’s Anthem.
Bioware has been losing members of its veteran creative staff, chief among them former Creative Director for Dragon Age Mike Laidlaw, departing in 2017 and 14 years at the company.
This has led to concerns among longtime fans over the quality of upcoming games.
