Last night DICE broke PC gamer master-racist hearts around the globe when they announced that the PC version of Battlefield 3 will not be getting mod tools. Apparently it has something to do with the game being imported from the future, and the fact that feeble human minds are not able to develop mods for it.
Bethesda meanwhile has been answering questions over on the The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim forums, and among other things they confirmed that the PC version will be getting mod tools, along with high-resolution textures and a better interface.
Various team members answered a plethora of questions, so if you want to know everything about Skyrim, you can read up here.
But back to the PC master race stuff: “We’re packing a lot of info on the screen and the whole interface is much less ‘look at giant fonts!’ than, say, Oblivion,” writes the devs. “There’s also a lot of “power user” stuff we do with the keyboard from how favourites work, to quick saves, and more that is similar to what we’ve done before in that area.”
“The PC version also gets higher resolution textures, larger render modes, and a bunch of other effects you can scale up if your machine is a beast,” they add.
“Last but most important, is the Creation Kit we’ll be releasing for the PC. Modding the game and making it your own is very important to us and our fans, so we’re going to keep doing whatever we can in that area.”
The only thing missing will be 64-bit executables, but apart from that, it looks like great care is being put into making sure the PC version lives up to the franchise’s legacy.
