Battlefield 3 digital retailer listing does not include Steam

11 July 2011

Over the weekend EA posted a list of all the digital retailers confirmed to sell Battlefield 3 later this year.

The list consists of just under 100 digital distributors, including the likes of Gamersgate, Direct2Drive, Impulse, and of course, EA’s own Origin platform. Conspicuously absent from the list was the world’s largest digital reseller of PC games; Steam.

There is nothing to say that Valve or EA won’t announce the game on Steam at a later date, but given that it is already available for pre-order pretty much everywhere, it seems a bit strange that Steam is missing at this point.

EA has previously confirmed that Star Wars: The Old Republic will be available as a digital exclusive through Origin, although this is different because Battlefield 3 will be sold through a wide variety of online retailers.
