Last week a careless Gamestop employee pulled supposed Battlefield 3 system requirements from a dated source and posted them on the Gamestop website. Hundreds of gaming blogs around the world carried the info, and before long the system specs were being touted as official.
EA and DICE remained tight lipped on the matter, not commenting on the game’s official system requirements, until now.
Battlefield 3 is currently going into closed alpha testing, and EA has invited players with “Battlefield veteran status” to participated. In order to achieve veteran status, you simply need to own at least 3 Battlefield games and have them registered with your EA account.
Along with the launch of the closed alpha test, EA has revealed the current system requirements for Battlefield 3:
– OS: Windows 7 or Vista (SP1)
– Installed: Origin
– CPU: [email protected] GHz or faster
– RAM: 4 GB or more
– Hard Drive: 7.25 GB of free disk space
– Video: 512 MB or greater DirectX compatible 10 or 11 card with latest drivers (5.11 or later AMD, nVidia 275.33 or later)
– Sound: DirectX compatible 10 or 11 card
– Internet: broadband connection
DICE has emphasized that these system requirements are not necessarily final, and might not correspond with those of the final release. Naturally this is to be expected seeing as the developer is still busy optimizing code and tweaking the game.
Battlefield 3 is being released on 28 October, 2011, and will be available for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
