Rift: free-to-play for the next few days

14 October 2011

Starting last night, Trion Worlds’ fantasy MMORPG, Rift, is free-to-play for both new and returning players.

Anyone can experience the full game, including its five-major-updates-worth of content, without spending a cent.

The game is free to play until Monday afternoon.

Although it received generally positive reviews when it was released earlier this year, Rift has struggled to grow its subscriber bas;, and like every other MMO looks destined to wilt in the shadow of the mighty World of Warcraft.

If you’re not sold on the free trial, check out our Rift review.

Our resident MMO junky Myles called the game a “very polished game with much to offer; it’s great for both newcomers as well as veterans looking for more classic MMORPG goodness. I strongly recommend RIFT for fans of the genre, just so long as they do not expect anything particularly groundbreaking.”

Head on over to the Rift website for more info.
