Blizzard won’t be at E3 this year

6 February 2009

Just days after Blizzard’s merger partner Activision confirmed that it will be attending this year’s newly expanded E3 event, the World of Warcraft developers have announced that they will not exhibit at this year’s show.

While technically Activision Blizzard is listed to appear at the trade-show, the Blizzard component will not be attending.

Blizzard has given no reason or explanation for why it will not be attending the exhibition, simply stating “Blizzard Entertainment will not be attending or participating in E3 2009”.

It’s not all that surprising, as Blizzard did not exhibit at last year’s E3 either, opting instead to host its own event: BlizzCon.

This means no StarCraft II or Diablo III news at the event, which is supposed to be the words most important video game exhibition.  There was also the hope that Blizzard might make an announcement regarding its upcoming yet to be announced new MMO (World of Starcraft anybody?)

Blizzard fans will have to wait for BlizzCon later in the year for news on their upcoming titles.
