Dawn of War II Beta closed, statistics released

18 February 2009

The Dawn of War II Beta testing phase officially closes today, with the final game being released internationally on Thursday 19 Feb, IE, tomorrow.

Relic thanks everybody who participated, and claims that it was their most successful Beta ever.

They also released some interesting statistics regarding the open Beta.

Average match length (in minutes)

Ranked                Custom

1v1: 9.73            1v1: 18.57

3v3: 12.16          3v3: 18.03

Relic noted that the difference between Ranked and Custom matches is a side effect of the Beta’s ranked matchmaking not taking TrueSkill into account properly, resulting in mismatched contests. They claim that this will be fixed in the first retail patch.

Most popular Races

Space Marines 41.2%

Eldar 22.3%

Orks 18.3%

Tyranids 18.1%

This was not that surprising, as past trends show that the “human faction” in titles like these is usually the most popular. The Space Marines are also the face of the franchise, and “have the most easily distinguishable roles on the battlefield”, according to a source at Relic.
