STEAM continues with its mad specials

20 March 2009

The first person action title currently scheduled for release on April 21 2009 is the latest game to get the special STEAM treatment.

The game promises a strong focus on melee combat and will play out in a fantasy-punk setting. It is being developed by ACE software and makes use of the popular Source engine as seen in Team Fortress 2 and Left 4 Dead.

“ACE Team’s focus on melee and fighting in a first-person game was a somewhat risky move, but having played the demo of Zeno Clash it appears that their work has really paid off.” said Robin Walker, co-creator of Team Fortress and game designer at Valve. “The art in the game is also an incredible part of the experience — they’ve really achieved something innovative with this title. I look forward to playing the full the game, and whatever they create next.”

STEAM users who preorder the game today will pay half price. The game will carry a regular price tag of $19.99, so those that pre-order it today will pay $9.99.

After today, it will be available for 25% off its regular retail price to those who preorder it though STEAM.
