Gamers tired of playing generic RPG hero archetypes in MMORPGs will be pleased to discover that Bioware has announced that the Bounty Hunter will be a playable character class in their upcoming MMORPG that is to be set in the Star Wars universe.
StarWars: The Old Republic is Bioware’s first venture in the MMO market. Bioware is responsible for RPG classics such as Baldurs Gate and Neverwinter Nights, as well as the more recent Mass Effect. The developer was also behind the popular StarWars: Knights of the old Republic.
The Old Republic has been pegged as the unofficial spiritual successor to the StarWars: Knights of the Old Republic series.
In a recently released video, Bioware has confirmed that the Bounty hunter will be a playable class in SWTOR. The Bounty Hunter class will be reminiscent of Boba Fett, the Bounty Hunter that attempts to kill Han Solo in StarWars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back.
The video reveals that Bounty Hunters will have access to various traditional StarWars weapons such as laser blasters as well as a jet-pack. The Bounty Hunter joins the Jedi and the Sith to make up the third officially announced playable character class.
Bioware has revealed that there will be many different character classes to play as in SWTOL, which is to be set 3000 years before the StarWars films, and 300 years after the events of StarWars: Knights of the Old Republic. It will be a PC exclusive, and there is currently no release date.
