Five out of Six Demigod players are pirates

17 April 2009

According to the LA Examiner , Demigod developer Stardock has announced that of the 120,000 users that have tried to play the game online in the past week, only 18,000 users have actually purchased the game.

While we have to feel sorry for Stardock, we are also not surprised. Considering that Demigod is largely aimed at DOTA fans, which for the most part do not own a legitimate copy of Warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne, we can’t help but feel that Stardock walked into this one.

Aiming your product at an audience with a proven track record when it comes to piracy is not a good way to sell games.
