Latest The Witcher patch removes DRM

9 July 2009

Patch 1.5 has been released for CD ProjektRED’s hit RPG. The update deactivates the game’s DRM encryption as well as its disk check mechanism. This means that the game will no longer require the disk to be in the drive when playing.

The update also fixes an EAX-related graphics problem and adds five new community-created adventures; ‘Deceits’, ‘Blight of the Bogs’, ‘Wraiths of Quiet Hamlet’, ‘The Wedding’, ‘Merry Witchmas’.

In order to correctly install the patch players must have an original install of the game patched to 1.4. The 371MB download can be found on the official site.
