July MPLD Pantheon Challenge round up

15 July 2009

Saturday morning early, MPLD was buzzing with excitement. Teams were busy setting up their pc’s and starting to get ready for the competition. Aim maps popped up all over the servers as players were warming up their aim. As before every counterstrike competition, there was the usual banter between the different teams, and everybody seemed relaxed.

After a few power issues, the event managed to kick off round about 10:30am. Right off the bat ‘Calamity’ and ‘Eternal conflict’ locked horns in battle, ‘Calamity’ managing to take down their opponents 16-14.

Pantheon faced Calamity next on train, defeating ‘Calamity’ 16-3. Then they proceeded to eliminate ‘Mint Gaming’ on train 16-7, which put them in the Semi Finals.

‘Rezilience’ had a good start, taking down provoke 16-5 on season.

After ‘Altered gaming’ massacred ‘FRAG’ 16-0 on nuke, they got matched up with ‘Rezilience’ on nuke again and got taken down 16-14.

This put Pantheon gaming and Rezilience in the winner bracket final. The match started on inferno pro. As Pantheon was in the lead 3-1, one of the Rez players dropped. Pantheon agreed to restart the match, and proceeded to beat Rezilience 16-2.

In the lower bracket, ‘KI saints’ defeats ‘FRAG’ 16-0 on season, while Eternal conflict fights back by defeating Provoke on inferno pro 16-8. ‘Eternal Conflict’ then shows ‘KI saints’ no mercy by dominating them on train with a score of 16-0. ‘Eternal Conflict’ continues to defeat ‘Mint Gaming’ with a staggering 16-1 on inferno pro.

‘Calamity’ was also determined to make their way to the finals by beating ‘Maximum Precision’ on nuke 16-11. ‘Calamity’ then made no mistakes versus ‘Altered Gaming’, running them over 16-1 on inferno pro.

‘Eternal Conflict’ continued to play with determination, beating ‘Calamity’ 16-5 on nuke.

The Lower bracket finals commenced around 5pm on inferno pro where ‘eternal conflict’ managed to secure their spot in the finals by taking down resilience 16-9.

The finals saw a lot of spectators, matching up rivals ‘Pantheon Gaming’ and ‘Eternal Conflict’. After the coin toss and map elimination, inferno pro was the map decided on, ‘Pantheon Gaming’ choosing to play Counter Terrorists first.

It was a great final, with both teams fighting hard for their rounds. The first half ‘Pantheon Gaming’ managed to get 11 rounds against ‘Eternal Conflict’s 4. The second half saw ‘Pantheon Gaming’ making a good start by taking the pistol round. ‘Eternal Conflict’ then fought back hard and managed to get 7 rounds on the scoreboard, but ‘Pantheon’ managed to pull through and take their 16th round making the end total 16-11.
All in all, the event ran well. And the few problems that did pop up were taken care of in record time thanks to the MPLD crew.

We are expecting to have the next Pantheon Counterstrike Source Challenge in October this year, and we will be hosting the challenge every three months. We expect an even greater turnout in events to come.

I want to encourage new and settled teams alike to keep practicing and to come show their skill and teamwork at all future Pantheon
