Batman: Arkham Asylum for PC delayed

6 August 2009

The PC version of Rocksteady’s Batman: Arkham Asylum was originally planned for launch alongside the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions at the end of August, but joint publishers Warner Bros and Eidos have announced that it has been pushed back a few weeks.

The game is now expected to be released in Europe on September 18, and should therefore arrive in SA a few days later.

The publishers also announced that the PC version of the game will feature Nvidia’s PhysX effects, stating “With PhysX technology enabled, players can explore darkened corridors packed with volumetric fog which reacts to Batman’s movement and cobwebs which tear with his passing. Combat becomes a maelstrom of motion as office papers are thrown into the air alongside soda cans and litter as Batman lands each punch upon The Joker’s henchmen. Throughout the game, the decaying gothic architecture is realized to an incredible detail with wall tiles chipping and breaking, stone pillars crumbling upon impact, and particles from breaking glass and debris shattering and falling down around Batman’s feet.”

The playable demo of Batman: Arkham Asylum for PS3 went live on PSN yesterday, and the PC and Xbox 360 versions are expected to go live today.
