Star Wars MMO gets new class

31 August 2009

A “Sith Warrior Class” was officially announced today for the upcoming Bioware MMO Star Wars: The Old Republic.

This announcement, made by Lucas Arts today, marks the fourth class in the upcoming title in addition to the Bounty Hunter, Smuggler and Trooper.

“Though the lightsaber is the Sith warrior’s primary method of attack, he also uses his dark command of the Force to paralyze, terrify, and kill,” says LucasArts.

“Protected by heavy armour and his powers of intimidation, the Warrior wades into the thick of the fight and unleashes pure hatred and fury to eliminate all who would stand against him.”

Star Wars: The Old Republic marks Bioware’s first foray in to the MMORPG market. The game was initially announced in October 2008.

No official release date has yet been given although online rumours suggest the game may be due in October 2010.

Bioware is also currently finishing off development of Dragon Age: Origins, and will be releasing Mass Effect 2 early in 2010.
