Arena 77 today announced that it would be hosting an old school gaming tournament at this year’s rAge expo, which will be held at the Coca Cola Dome from the 2nd to the 4th of October.
The game in question will be Quake 3. The tournament will kick off as a free for all on Friday and Saturday morning with Saturday afternoon seeing the top players competing in a double elimination round running up to the finals and prize giving on Sunday.
The first 15 players will win their share of R100 000 worth of prizes, sponsored by the likes of Intel, Sapphire and ATI.
Those players who wish to secure a spot in the tournament need to register for an FFA session on the Langames SA website (www.langames.co.za). Registrations are now open.
The rAge expo is now in its seventh year and is South Africa’s biggest yearly LAN event. In 2009 over 1800 gamers will be participating in the NAG LAN, which is held at the Expo. Apart from the LAN itself there will be a number of stalls to view as well as several local product launches.
