World of Warcraft: Brewfest is here

20 September 2009

It’s that time of year again. Bust out the ale and prepare for Brewfest! Whether you are a hopeful Brewmaster, intend on sitting around with a couple of mates chugging down some freebies, or you’re a real-world Oktoberfest veteran, Brewfest is sure to tickle your fancy.

Alliance players will need to head on down to the entrance of Ironforge to begin the festivities. Horde players will have their share of the fun at Orgrimmar’s entrance. Most major cities also have beer gardens, which are usually located just outside of their entrances. Don’t forget to pre-drink along the way!

As with most events, Brewfest has its own list of special achievements for players to work towards. Considering this opportunity only comes around once a year, use it wisely! Plenty of guides are available on the internet that will have you ticking off that list in no time. Your reward? The fitting title of Brewmaster of course! It’s the perfect opportunity to work whilst in a drunken haze like you may never have dared to in the past.

Of course, events are meant to be celebrated and if work doesn’t sound like much fun to you, there’s a host of other activities to busy yourself with. For starters, there’s ram racing. What could be more fun that busting out the ol’ ale, saddling up a beast and leaving mayhem in your wake? Plenty of quests are available for those who enjoy missioning around too. Some even involve our dear ram friends.

“Da phat loot” is, of course, where it’s all at in World of Warcraft. From trinkets to that beloved Violet Protodrake – there’s certainly no lack of reward for your trouble or lack thereof. Considering the Brew of the Year achievement has been removed from the festival, expect to see Violet Protodrakes popping up left, right and centre in-game, or in your own list of mounts if you’ve been actively involved in past Brewfests. Many more mounts and of course an endless supply of alcohol just scratch the surface of what you could be adding to your bags.

Drink well, friends, and party like there’s no tomorrow, as it will likely be the last Brewfest before that Cataclysm hits!
