The iBurst Corporate Offices in Sandton were once again turned into a battlefield as Dial a Nerd (DAN) and iBurst faced off in an eagerly anticipated Call of Duty 4 rematch, scheduled after iBurst narrowly defeated DAN in the previous match. The iGame online servers once again hosted the “not-so-friendly-this-time” match.
With teams consisting of 8 players per side, two training rooms were quickly converted to “Gaming” rooms as the players began setting up their systems.

Vacant
With grenades and flashbangs going off in rapid succession, the Defending iBurst team found themselves at an early disadvantage, with expertly timed rush attacks by Charl “Deadly” Klein and DAN – Gardener.
After DAN took all 5 first rounds, the iBurst team was forced into a more aggressive defensive strategy than they had planned, counter rushing more players into the hotly contested warehouse target site. Securing some rounds thanks to the valiant efforts of Greg “Silverback” Wildman, Carlos “101cdc” da Costa and James “Dredd” Devine, the iBurst players ended the half with a few rounds to their credit. Faced with the cramped hallways to defend, DAN faced a well timed onslaught from the iBurst players, with Scourge holding his own inside the warehouse with his sniper rifle. Adapting to the situation, iBurst managed to capitalize on the aggressive tactics employed by Chris “Spartan” Smit and Omri “Bosveldbull” Nel. Despite the effort, the DAN defenders held firm and secured a well deserved 13 11 victory on the map

Following the defeat on Vacant , the iBurst team regrouped and rallied on Backlot. Thanks to some spectacular rounds, which saw the DAN team almost completely wiped out during the first few seconds of each round, iBurst had taken a commanding lead. With newfound confidence, iBurst surged into the A target during the first few rounds of the second half. Well co-ordinated attacks by Spartan, 101cdc and Silverback allowed iBurst to secure the area around the target while key players like Trevor “FooFoo” Lai managed to hold off the determined defenders. Desperately attempting to stop the attackers from making headway, Scourge, Deadly, Gardener and Psy managed to secure rounds for the defending DAN team. With some awe inspiring sniping from Spartan on attack, iBurst managed to secure the second map.

Crash
With one map each, the winning team would be determined on the deserted streets and alleys of Crash. iBurst electing to defend first, the tension was palpable as the first round started, DAN rushing into the A Target building with an unrelenting attack. Having discussed tactics briefly during the now “customary” smoke break between the previous map and this one, the iBurst team remained calm and steadfast and dug in for what was to be a nail biting defensive half.
Spartan, rushing mid, found himself ‘Knee deep in Nerd” during round two, with the confines of the B alley working to his advantage he managed to single handedly take down 7 of the 8 attacking players. The team of Bosveldbull, 101cdc, Dredd and Silverback secured the defensive perimeter around A Target and took down the surrounded survivor. Given the task of defending mid, FooFoo and Dracolusus managed to suppress any possible attacks from this direction. With some inspired clutch plays by both ensuring the DAN team could not destroy their objective.
Ending the half with a narrow lead, iBurst was met with an impenetrable wall of bullets and grenades, with epic sniping from Scourge and the team of Psy and Deadly working to secure the hotly contested A Target, DAN clawed back and closed on the lead held by iBurst. In a Nail biting round, with mere seconds to spare, the iBurst team managed to plant the bomb, destroying the target and claiming the win, with Dredd killing the last remaining Nerd defenders. Leading with 13 rounds to 5, the iBurst team secured a further 4 rounds on attack after DAN heroically fought back on defense.
