First Need for Speed: SHIFT patch available

23 September 2009

EA today made the first patch for recently release Need for Speed SHIFT available to PC gamers.

This will add a few minor tweaks to the game including LAN support which, according to EA, “enhances the multiplayer experience”. It also adds “mouse support”, which allows the player “full menu navigation through the game using your PC mouse”.

The game, which was released internationally last week, is part of a three game announcement that will include Need for Speed: Nitro and Need for Speed: Online. It competes with the likes of Forza and Grand Turismo in that it functions on a similar tier based structured racing platform, supposedly to offer a more realistic driving platform than previous Need for Speed efforts.

It currently holds a score of 83 out of 100 on gaming website aggregator Metacritic.
