About Aion

Aion was originally released in South Korea back in November 2008. The game was then released in China and Japan early this year. The game grew in popularity in these regions before western gamers finally got their own release last week.

Developed by NCSoft who are responsible for another immensely popular MMO; Guild Wars, the game is said to follow a similar gameplay structure to Blizzard’s incredibly popular World of Warcraft. One of the immediately noticeable differences is that the game runs on the famed Cryengine (Crysis) and offers improved visuals compared to World of Warcraft. It also offers the addition of player controlled flight, as well as various subtle changes to the basic gameplay.

Aion a pay-to-play MMO, and requires a monthly subscription fee of roughly R110 in order to play.
There are two factions in Aion, the dark and disfigured Asmodian, and the beautiful and graceful Elyos. There are four primary clases, each of which is divided into two specialist classes.

Warriors: Gladiators who focus on increased damage, and Templar’s who combine basic combat with special defensive powers .

Scouts: Assassins who specialize in stealthy attacks, and Rangers who specialize in physical ranged damage.

Priests: Chanters who focusing in granting their team mates special powers (buffs) as well as healing and magic based attacks, and Cleric who specifically focus on healing, protecting and resurrecting allies.

Mages: Sorcerers use their magic to do tremendous damage to their enemies, focusing in fire, water earth or wind based magic. Spiritmasters are able to summon beasts and magical spirits to fight for them.
