Brazen win CoD4 final at rAge

5 October 2009

Team Brazen can now confidently boast the best Call of Duty 4 (CoD4) team in SA.

The team went into the finals at rAge after a solid year of winning every major CoD 4 tournament in South Africa.
The team breezed through most of their matches at the LAN, and only ever looked like they might lose in the final when they went up against a very solid BFB Lard.

BFB Lard took an early lead against Brazen who were defending on the map Crash. At one point, the favorites were down 7-2, but managed to come back slightly, ending the first half just two points down at 5-7.

Brazen continued to stage an impressive comeback, clawing their way to 7-7. The advantage was then traded back and forth in the following rounds, until both teams were locked in at 10-10.

Lard continued to apply pressure, keeping the usually confident Brazen off-balance with well placed grenades and gutsy determination. When they managed to take the lead at 11-10, Brazen called a time out. At this point Lard’s momentum seemed to be destined to propel them to victory, but it was not to be, as Brazen managed to gather themselves in the time out and came back hard.

The time-out allowed Brazen to reformulate their strategy and disrupt Lard’s momentum. The team managed to take two consecutive rounds following the break, leading Lard 12-11. At this point Lard called their own time-out, which ultimately proved futile as following the break Brazen took the final round ending the game 13-11.

The final round culminated in three Brazen players hunting the last remaining Lard player; Greg ‘Bambi’s Revenge’ Ireland. A well placed shot from Max ‘fAiTh’ Mclaughlin’s desert eagle pistol ended BFB Lard’s hopes at a victory.

Brazen receive a cash prize of R25 000 from Telkom DoGaming as well as hardware prizes sponsored by Logitech. Pantheon Gaming, who was defeated earlier by BFB Lard, took third place in the tournament.
