16 October 2009

Electronic Arts has released a developer diary for upcoming RTS sequel Command and Conquer 4.

In it Jason Bender, the game’s lead designer, gives a more details regarding the description of The Crawler – a new mobile base which will be introduced for the first time to the series.

Bender reveals that the crawler is a war factory, radar and a base and has been designed in a compact fashion in order to make the best of team mechanics.

Command and Conquer 4: Tiberium Twilight will constitute the final chapter to the Tiberium saga in which the factions of GDI and the Brotherhood of Nod will be required to partner in order to combat a newer, more powerful enemy.

The sequel is currently in development and is scheduled to be released in 2010. It will require players to be constantly online regardless of whether engaging in single player or multiplayer modes. This decision has come under fire in countries such as South Africa, where cheap and reliable broadband is less readily available.
