Following the confirmation of Star Trek MMORPG, Star Trek Online’s release date developers Cryptic Studios have revealed the minimum system requirements for the title.

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo 1.8 Ghz or AMD Athlon X2 3800+
Memory: 1GB RAM
Video: NVIDIA GeForce 7950 / ATI Radeon X1800 / Intel HD Graphics
Sound: DirectX 9.0c Compatible Soundcard
DirectX: Version 9.0c or Higher
HDD: 8GB Free Disk Space
Network: Internet Broadband Connection Required
Disc: 6X DVD-ROM
Based on these requirements one can assume that Cryptic were aiming for widespread accessibility when developing Star Trek Online.
The upcoming MMORPG, which will be released on the 2nd of February 2010 is currently in its beta testing phase and has been billed by its developers as “the first MMO to offer both space and ground game play.”
In the game each player will be a captain of his or her own ship, with the mention of ‘Federation Captain’ and ‘Klingon Warrior’ as class possibilities.
It has also been suggested that players will be able to beam down onto the face of different planets for more hand -to -hand orientated confrontations.
