Thousands of Modern Warfare 2 cheaters banned on PC

30 November 2009

Modern Warfare 2 creative strategist and mouthpiece Robert Bowling has announced that 2500 Modern Warfare 2 PC players were banned over the weekend for cheating.

Users were apparently caught using cheats to give themselves an advantage in the multiplayer component of the game.

One of the main reasons given for omitting dedicated server support in the final release was so that Infinity Ward could have more control over preventing cheating, and unbalanced community modifications etc.

Within days of the game’s official release, video footage appeared on YouTube of players using “hacks” in game.
