For some reason, in the golden age of RTS gaming (late 90s) when everyone else was playing Command & Conquer (or one of its sequels) or Age of Empires, I found myself formidably glued to Cave Dog’s (RIP) epic tactical RTS, Total Annihilation. It still stands as one of my favourite RTS games ever, which made its “spiritual successor” Supreme Commander quite a big deal for me.
Supreme Commander was great, but I was left wanting more. So the announcement of its sequel was yet again, quite a pretty big deal for me.
Square Enix has announced that the game will be released for PC on March 19 2010.
It will include a single player campaign mode as well online multiplayer, both with three playable factions.
Early gameplay videos flaunt massive and unique experimental units, and the game really is looking like something completely unique from the hundreds of point and click RTS games that have been released in the past 15 years.
But don’t take my word for it, check out the developer walkthrough video, locally hosted on MyGaming.
