BattleCry from Bethesda announced

29 May 2014

Bethesda Softworks has announced a new free-to-play online action game which will see you and 31 other gamers fight to the death… without gunpowder.

Titled BattleCry, the game will focus on team-based combat and be set in a world created by Viktor Antonov – who helped bring Half-Life 2 and Dishonoured to life. From the screens we have seen, included below, you will control your character from the third-person perspective.

“Gun powder has been banned following a cataclysmic world war at the dawn of the 20th century. Traditional warfare is now a relic of the past and all conflicts are settled head-on by elite teams of chosen warriors in sanctioned WarZones. Trained and bred for battle they face off for the glory of their nations,” is the premise of the game, as stated on the BattleCry website.

Battlecry 2

BattleCry will feature two factions – the Royal Marine and the Cossacks –  to which you can align yourself, and a rank system through which you progress to unlock new abilities.

Although gunpowder does not exist in the game, you will have access to ranged weapons and other modern technologies – like electricity – along with an array of melee weapons.

The beta version of Battlecry is set to become available for PC in 2015.
