Will Assassin’s Creed Unity be delayed for PC?

23 June 2014

Assassin’s Creed Unity will released for PC, Xbox One, and PS4 at the same time according to Ubisoft.

Speaking to Rock, Paper, Shotgun, AC: Unity producer Lesley Phord-Toy said: “I don’t have any specific news on the PC version of Assassin’s Creed Unity, but I do know we’re planning on shipping on all three [platforms]: Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. I haven’t heard any news differently than that.”

History shows us that Assassin’s Creed titles normally release for PC after their console counterparts have hit the shelves, with the most recent PC iteration – Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag – launching several weeks after the console version.

Phord-Toy said releasing a PC version of a game can be “challenging”, and explained why there have been delays in the past.

“PC has a variety of different hardware configurations that you can’t necessarily predict. On a console you know what’s in the box. Every customer has the same configuration for the most part, and first-parties push firmware updates so everyone has what you’re expecting to have. PCs are nowhere near as consistent. So it can be extremely challenging to try and support as many of those permutations as possible,” she said.

The being said, Phord-Toy has assured AC fans the PC version will not be delayed this time around. AC Unity is due to be released in October 2014.

The best way to play a stealth-assassin game is to have 3 friends teabagging dead enemies. Fact.

But seriously, after the pirating scandal, UPlay, Watch Dogs, Far Cry 4 commentary and Ubisoft: The Game, you’d think people would learn to ignore the franchises this company makes.
