One of Xbox One’s biggest exclusives, Halo 5, won’t make the jump to Windows according to head of Xbox Phil Spencer.
The news was given as part of a Q&A session at Microsoft’s Build 2016 where Spencer addressed the media.
Spencer argued that Halo 5’s gameplay was designed from the ground up for consoles and wouldn’t translate well to a mouse and keyboard.
“You should expect it when franchises look like they belong on both platforms, but I wouldn’t go so far as to say it’s a mandate for the studios because it’s not.”
“In terms of Halo FPS on PC, I think there’s a ton of opportunity for us right now, but I don’t want to get into a world where we’re looking back, like at Halo 5.
Spencer cited games that do work well on both platforms including Quantum Break, Forza 6 and Rise of the Tomb Raider, but insisted that there was no Microsoft mandate to ensure games work on both Xbox and PC.
