Mobile is still the biggest threat to Console gaming

Mobile games continue to bring in more revenue than any other platform.

This news was confirmed in a report released by analyst firm IDC and App Annie to Gamasutra. Results show that mobile games continue to have the highest revenue stream compared to any other market, despite the fact its users spend the least amount of time and money when playing.

This is a continuing trend, with mobile game revenues already eclipsing PC and console in 2014 and market share continuing to grow across both Apple and Android devices in 2015.

While handheld devices (the 3DS and PS Vita) have only lost marginal ground, the only area in which Console gaming has seen any gain is Western Europe.

Digi-Capital’s Tim Merel projected last year that mobile game revenues hit a staggering $29 billion in 2015 – forming nearly 33% of the global games market’s $88 billion net worth.
