Blizzard’s massive battle against Overwatch porn

30 May 2016

Blizzard is frantically trying to keep pornographic content featuring its Overwatch characters off the internet.

The game’s incredible popularity has lead to an 800% increase in searches for “Overwatch porn”, according to a release from Pornhub, with “Tracer” being the character receiving the most attention.

As a result, Blizzard seems to have teamed up with a digital security company called Irdetoleading to various takedown orders being issued against makers of the pornographic material.

Given the game’s immense popularity and success however trying to stop all of these creators may prove to be an almost impossible task.

Wikipedia’s definition of Rule 34

“If it exists, there is porn of it – no exceptions”—is a prevalent meme that Internet pornography exists that concerns every conceivable topic. The most popular targets are cartoons and anime.
