Overwatch is an immensely popular game and is enjoyed by millions of players worldwide, despite its relatively separated server locations.
South African Overwatch players are forced to play on European servers, and are subsequently stuck with a latency of over 200ms.
Despite this, the gameplay is still fun and relatively playable due to Blizzard’s exceptional “favour-the-shooter” netcode.
However, with Competitive Play and the need for more responsive gameplay arriving this month, many South African players have called for local servers to be implemented, with one player creating a petition towards this end.
Raynhardt Meyburgh, a MyGaming forum member and Overwatch player, has started a petition aimed at investigating the viability of South African Overwatch servers.
By signing the petition, players show their support and interest in local Overwatch servers and increase the likelihood of Blizzard investigating the viability of South African server clusters.
If you are a fan of Overwatch and you want to be able to enjoy a latency of less than 200ms, you can sign the petition here.
