PlayStation has announced it will finally support Discord calls directly, removing the need to keep the app open on your smartphone or PC.
The announcement was made via X (formerly Twitter) post and a PlayStation blog post which noted that you’ll be able to join Discord calls directly from your PS5 and that the update will begin rolling out in the coming weeks – beginning in Japan and Asia.
How it will work
Joining Discord on your PS5 is easy, requiring only five steps to join a voice chat:
- Go to the “Game Base” option located in the control center/quick menu.
- Select the Discord icon.
- Select “Direct Voice Chats” to call your friends.
- For group voice chats, select the server you want to be in.
- You’ll find a list of voice channels here. Select any of them and tap the “Join” button.
You’ll also be able to set custom sounds from the soundboard.
