Sony: “The PSN is more secure and better than ever”

2 September 2011

Looks like Sony has put all that nasty hacking business from April 2001 behind it, and moved on.

In fact, Sony reckons the PlayStation Network has never been better, but when the only way is up, that’s probably kind of inevitable.

“I’m pleased to tell you that the PSN is more secure and better than ever,” CEO Howard Stringer said during a news conference at the IFA consumer electronics fair in Berlin (via CNET).

“We are aggressively expanding its content. We have more than three million new customers since the network came back online, and sales are exceeding what we had before the cyber attacks. This year, we at Sony have been flooded, we’ve been flattened, we’ve been hacked, we’ve been singed. But the summer of our discontent is behind us,” said Stringer.

At the same event, Sony also announced plans to consolidate the PlayStation Network, Music Unlimited, and Video Unlimited services under a new Sony Entertainment Network brand. New name, same thing.
