Final Fantasy 14 PS4 launch, Collector’s Edition revealed

28 January 2014

With more than 1.5 million players registered with Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn, it was a no-brainer that Square Enix would bring the MMO to the PS4.

Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn will release for PS4 on 14 April 2014, with beta tests starting on 22 February.

Square Enix also made it clear that if you already own the PS3 version you will be able to download the PS4 version at no additional cost. Players will transfer their accounts from the PS3 version, but will be unable to play the PS3 version once they have done that.

There has also been a Collector’s Edition revealed which is very similar to the PS3 version, it contains the following:

  • Exclusive packaging.
  • Artbook – The Art Of Eorzea: A Realm Reimagined.
  • Seventh Umbral Era movie disc – The Waning Of The Sixth Sun.
  • Soundtrack – The Sounds Of Eorzea.
  • Art card set.
  • Security token.
  • Six in-game items: Fat Chocobo Mount, Coeurl Mount, Behemoth Barding for Chocobo Mount, Wind-Up Moogle Companion, Baby Behemoth Companion, Helm of Light (increases earned experience by 20% until level 10).

We are waiting on confirmation of the local availability of this collector’s edition, but are optimistic, as we received the PS3 and PC version on the international launch day along with the Collectors Edition.
