PS4 Wireless Stereo Headset 2.0 SA price announced

28 February 2014

Ster Kinekor Entertainment, distributor of Sony Computer Entertainment products in SA, has confirmed that the PS4 Wireless Stereo Headset 2.0 will carry an RRP of R1,299. The headset will be available in SA from April 2014.

Although this is a stereo headset, PS4 firmware update 1.60 brought with it support for 7.1 virtual surround sound.

The headset uses a USB-powered wireless adaptor, compatible with PS4, PS3, PC or Mac. The headset also comes with a 3.5mm stereo jack adapter for use with compatible devices, such as PS Vita. The claimed rechargeable battery life is “up to 8 hours”.

The PS4 Wireless Stereo Headset 2.0 boasts a foldable design and an integrated noise-cancelling microphone (i.e no mic boom).

Sony also has a free Headset Companion App for the headset, through which you can configure custom sound modes or use preset modes on PS4 and PS3. The Headset Companion App is also compatible with the original Wireless Stereo Headset 2.0 and the PULSE Wireless Stereo Headsets on both PS4 and PS3.

The first sound mode that will be coming to PS4 is for the upcoming InFamous: Second Son.
