Sony has revealed its PlayStation Plus Instant Game Collection lineup for August 2013. Those who subscribe to the PS Plus service are eligible for the “free” titles as long as they remain subscribed.

There’s really nothing to complain about this month, with solid games offered to both PS3 and PS Vita platforms.

A standout title for me is Spec Ops: The Line which I think is a very seriously underrated game. Check out my review to find out why: Spec Ops: The Line review (PC)

  • 31st July: Unit 13

Entering PS Plus in July/August:

  • 31st July: Need for Speed: Most Wanted
  • 31st July: Mafia 2
  • 31st July: Spec Ops: The Line

Meanwhile, over in the Microsoft camp, Xbox Live Gold subscribers have just been given their second free game for July – Assassin’s Creed 2. This is on top of the contentious addition of Defense Grid: The Awakening as the first free game of July.

Of course, if you are a South African Xbox Live Gold subscriber, you weren’t even that “lucky” because Defense Grid isn’t approved for sale in the SA Live Marketplace – we got Joy Ride Turbo instead.
