Top selling PS4 games in SA

PS4 SA news

Gfk has released its latest charts for SA retail, revealing which are the top 5 best-selling PlayStation 4 games for December 2013 and January 2014. This includes both pre-orders and post-launch sales.

It’s not surprising to see EA’s FIFA 2014 topping the list for both months as the franchise remains hugely popular. The game offers some neat graphical features on the new consoles and this may have swayed fans over to this version.

Sony’s launch exclusive Killzone Shadow Fall is an obvious contender for a top spot alongside Call of Duty Ghosts and Battlefield 4, as there aren’t yet many FPS titles available for the platform. The gorgeous graphics on offer in Shadow Fall likely enticed gamers.

Assassin’s Creed 4 comes in as the 5th best-selling PS4 game in SA, also not much of a surprise as it was the most refreshing take on the franchise to date with it’s awesome sea combat mechanics coupled with fan-favourite face-stabbing action.

Below is a chart detailing the top 5 selling PS4 games at SA retail for December 2013 and January 2014.

Gfk explained to MyGaming to what degree their sales stats represent the overall SA retail market.

Gfk spokesperson Sónia Sengupta said they cover around 90% of the SA gaming retail market, and 95% of the SA gaming consoles retail market.

Gfk does track online retailers, as well as both the physical and online sales of the retailers who have physical and online outlets, said Sengupta.

The stats presented are gathered on a monthly basis from the retailers with whom Gfk is in partnership.
