Xbox LIVE House Party promotion not hitting SA LIVE service

11 February 2011

The 2011 Xbox LIVE House Party promotion was unveiled a couple of days ago, promising some cool new titles at reduced launch pricing. These include:

•    Hard Corps: Uprising – 1200 Microsoft Points
•    Bejeweled Blitz Live – 800 Microsoft Points
•    Beyond Good & Evil HD – 800 Microsoft Points
•    Torchlight – 1200 Microsoft Points
•    Full House Poker – 800 Microsoft Points

Many gamers have already become disheartened by the fact that the local variant of the Xbox LIVE service has a dismal selection of digitally distributed games. This is not exactly the fault of the SA Microsoft Xbox team, as they are hamstrung by the local product rating system, but the fact remains that there is basically no incentive for local gamers to migrate from using an international LIVE service such as that hosted in SA.

Unsurprisingly, the 2011 House Party promotion will not be launching on the local LIVE service. Microsoft Xbox South Africa confirmed this via Twitter: “Just to clear any confusion, House Party, will not be coming to SA. Hopefully there will be good news about its entry at a later stage.”
