Blizzard has announced that Overwatch will be free to play on console from 9-12 September.

PlayStation 4 and Xbox One owners will be able to experience the game without any limitations, with access to all 22 heroes, 13 maps, and all game modes.

Should players decide to buy the game after the free weekend, all their content will be carried over from the free weekend.

Gamers can download the Overwatch Free Weekend client from the PSN or Xbox Live Store.

Xbox One gamers will require a Xbox Live subscription, but PlayStation owners will be able to play the game without the need for a PS Plus subscription.

The Free Weekend will kick off at 20:00 on 9 September.
