New Alan Wake game confirmed

10 May 2011

In response to internet rumours of an Alan Wake sequel in development, Remedy’s Oskari Häkkinen has told Joystiq that “the next Wake instalment” is in the works, but it “will not be Alan Wake 2. But neither will it be DLC.”

Oh, how extraordinarily mysterious. Sounds like a case for… Alan Wake.

Speculation started a day or two back when CG character animator Althea Suarez Gata’s LinkedIn resume was copy-pasted everywhere, featuring “Alan Wake 2” in her list of projects for April 2011 (although it looks like the entry has been yanked since then).

“Well, now that the cat is out of the bag, we owe it to you and the fans to shed a little more light before we get the chance to officially show them what the guys have been up to,” says Häkkinen.

“Fans of the franchise will be excited to learn that yes, more Wake is coming! But to be absolutely certain to avoid confusion, this next Wake installment will not be Alan Wake 2. But neither will it be DLC. The rest we’re saving for our official announcement when we’ll actually SHOW YOU.”

He also adds that, “Release dates, platforms and pricing are unconfirmed as of yet, but Fall 2011 is probably a good guess,” and promises “more coming soon”.
