Rumour control: Alan Wake XBLA title in development

20 May 2011

Following on last week’s confirmation that an Alan Wake game (that isn’t a sequel or some kind of DLC for the first game, mind you) is currently in the works, a website nobody has ever heard of is now claiming it’s an XBLA spin-off called Night Springs.

Citing an otherwise unidentified “extremely trusted source”, XBLAFans.com says they’ve already seen screenshots of the game, but were asked not to publish them.

In the original Alan Wake, Night Springs is the Twilight Zone-style show that appears on in-game TVs from time to time. In the context of the game, moreover, Alan Wake had written a number of episodes for the show, and apparently been asked to write more.

As dubious as it seems, it’s not unlikely.  Remedy’s Oskari Häkkinen has already suggested the game is probably going to see a 2011 launch, lending credibility to the claim of a smaller-scale XBLA project. He’d also promised “more coming soon”.
