Microsoft’s worst-kept secret was finally officially confirmed earlier this week with the announcement that a remake of Halo: Combat Evolved was in development over at 343 Industries and Saber Interactive.
Talking to IndustryGamers at a demo event for the game, 343 Industries’ Frank O’ Connor assured fans that the company would “never ignore the roots and foundation of what makes Halo successful” and “never try to replicate what Bungie did.”
The project’s executive producer, Dan Ayoub, also explained that the remake would feature a “classic mode” for those excessively sentimental people who want to switch back and forth between pretty HD visuals and ten years ago. According to Ayoub, this is possible because the game is essentially running on two engines – the original Halo game engine, and a new graphics engine on top of that – something he described as a “very tricky process”.
Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary is scheduled to launch on 15 November.
