Previously planned for release in northern hemisphere Winter, so our Summer, the Xbox Live version of Minecraft will now only be released in Spring 2012, which means we can expect it to show up around late March.
“Minecraft for Xbox 360 is currently in heavy development and we are very happy with the progress. Daniel is working tightly with the 4J team to coordinate Notch’s design decisions. We want to keep the core experience of the original PC version intact, while ensuring the game fits its new platform,” reads an announcement on the Mojang blog.
The Xbox Live version of Minecraft is expected to implement a radically overhauled user interface, and is being developed by Dundee-based 4J.
“I don’t think we can have the exact same experience because of the lack of a keyboard,” Mojang’s Daniel Kaplan said earlier this year. “So we’re going to do a complete overhaul of the user interface, and make sure it works on a 360 controller.”
