I Am Alive review roundup

Ubisoft’s action adventure title, I Am Alive, is now available on the Xbox LIVE Marketplace for 1200 MS Points (R140).

The game takes place one year after something called “the event”, which really is the single worst name for a cataclysmic event, ever. Anyway, the Event pretty much destroys everything, wiping out human civilization as we know it. What remains is a desolated city and some scary stuff going on in it. You play a man who is struggling to find his daughter and wife among the ruins.

It’s an intriguing, albeit not particularly inspired concept that I can totally get behind. What can I say, I’m a bit of a slut for post-apocalyptic doom and gloom.

The first reviews are up, and things are looking good. The game currently enjoys a Metacritic score of 75/100.

Autosave points are few and far between, which means that on anything above normal difficulty your frequent restarts will result in much repetition. Likewise, I Am Alive’s platforming is occasionally cumbersome and inexact. But nevertheless this game offers a journey worth charting, one of physics, social decline and welcome terror in a market overrun by zombies. Read more
