Battlefield 4 runs better on Xbox 360 when installed

Electronic Arts and DICE have made an important announcement for gamers on the Xbox 360 console. For the best experience of Battlefield 4, DICE recommends you have at least 15GB of space free on your hard drive to install the game.

DICE has said that the game by default requires a 2GB mandatory install on the console, allowing it to be playable on versions of the Xbox 360 that don’t have a hard drive internally or available through a USB connection.

The game will ship with two discs. One contains content and game data for the single player campaign totalling 6.6GB; while the other contains game data for the multiplayer, totalling 5.8GB.

Combined with the mandatory install, one would need 15GB of free drive space to be in the clear.

Although it’s possible to play the game without committing the data to your hard drive, DICE recommends that players with enough space on their hard drive do so to have the best Battlefield 4 experience.

This follows on the heels of the Grand Theft Auto V launch, where Rockstar urged players on the Xbox 360 to not install game data from the “Play” disc to the hard drive to avoid streaming issues, giving players the option to load the game data onto a flash drive instead.

Similar issues on the Playstation 3 were experienced by some owners who bought the digital version of GTA V, where streaming the game from the hard drive also caused issues with performance.

It looks like Battlefield 4 may not suffer from these issues, although it is a much smaller game compared to the incredible scale of GTA V and how much there is to do in Los Santos.
