Where do YOU draw the line? What offends YOU?

All this talk about offence and what each person finds offensive reminded me of news story many years ago. It was before the time of the internet so I don't have a link (I think it was about 1993 or there abouts). I'm not going to give my own opinion on it, just tell it as I remember and let each person make up their own mind.

A Native American (who we call American Indians her in SA) visited South Africa and ended up in a Spur restaurant. The toilets were marked "Chiefs" and "Squaws". He pointed out to the manager that "Squaw" is a derogatory and racist term for an woman in their culture. The manager apologized and changed the signs. I don't recall clearly, but I think a number of Spurs followed this example while others didn't bother.

What do you think: If you were a manager in a Spur at that time, would you have changed your signs even though the incident didn't happen in your restaurant?

I don't know if that was rhetorical or not, but yeah i would probably change them... probably because im a woman but yeah...

Stuff that offends me, personally:

1. When people think I'm not smart enough todo a task.
2. If I was asked a question regarding a query, then the individual would go for a 2nd opinion right in front of my face.

So basically, people who insult your intelligence? Direct or otherwise.

Being undermined.

People who think you can't do something or can't understand something; THAT irritates me.

Or, being treated like a lesser or simpleton.

I am also a Christian. That, in short, means that Jesus took my sin upon himself and paid the ultimate price. In a response to this I choose to follow Him and live a life as close to His as possible. (the very short version)

I get offended when people think my faith is "stupid" or simply not worth their time. They will go out of their way to state this, often feeling like they are justified or entitled to do so. It also offends me that people attack, mock, humiliate or insult my faith or subjects of my religion. This does not mean I have no sense of humour.

Jesus does not NEED me to defend him or his honour, but I will do it anyway, the same way I will defend my wife and daughter. That does not make my religion stupid or a waste of time. It does not mean I found a non-existent black cat in a dark room. I think it was Fivel who stated on this forum that it seems you can be anything on the internet except a Christian... Allow me that right at least and respect it for what I think of it, not what you think it should be.

Is that enough detail as to what offends me?

I also get offended when I try to give someone a high-5 and they simply leave me hanging!

This bit. Right in the feels. I've noticed that most of the time they're just focused somewhere else and then return it after the awkward wait.
