MWEB 200/GB out of bundle fees.

And that's what's wrong with them? :wtf:

As far as I'm concerned, yes.
When you're in one particular mood very frequently (e.g. anger, happiness etc) associate you with that mood. I don't want mood-association; act in a certain way and people ask you "are you alright?"/"what's wrong?", instead of observing the obvious.

Not to detract too much from the topic at hand but...

This happens to you on a regular basis?

Confirmed.

Anyway, isn't it against the law to charge clients for their extended use of cap, rather than stopping it.
Wouldn't a contract stipulate this, especially if on a capped account - unless special permission was given.

No.
Let's return the topic of the thread.

He asked what was wrong with emoticons, not what they're for.

Confirmed.

So what then has necessitated this mindset?

To the bargain bin? :p

I'm trying to understand why you guys are trying to understand :p xD

On topic; I have to question what prompts Mweb to go for these anti-consumer practices. This is the stuff mutinies are made of. Is there a level of complacency/comfort in customers where they end up dealing with this as opposed to jumping ship?

Trying to understand why Hagan doesn't "wish to use smileys in a post" :p

I do not wish to use smileys in posts, but this is the result of that... Confusion.

Despite berating you for causing confusion by failing to use smileys yourself.

Also mostly just teasing Hagan :)

I can only imagine so. What grates me the most is probably people who are aware of these practises but insist on supporting these companies simply because it doesn't affect them or simply hasn't affected them yet.

That kind of complacency grates me--it's why there are so many of these opportunistic parasite companies out there in the first place.

I think it is a question of comfort. Maybe Zuma was right when he said South Africans are lazy. You get screwed by a company and instead of going through the hassle of kicking them under their corporate arse and moving to a competitor, people rather just adapt their own usage to avoid being screwed.
I may be wrong about this, but from the screen grabs I've seen it doesn't look like they have an option to be actually capped once your data runs out. You either buy a per gig booster before the data runs out (R99 for 1.5gigs which is still ridiculous) or if you go even one meg over the cap, you get charged at the per megabyte rate and you can't change it. That is the part for me that is really low.
Unfortunately MWeb does have this in their T&Cs, so legally there will probably be no repercussions

It's not like their other option isn't extortionate either. R100 for a 1.5GB booster, I think. Compare that to places like Afrihost who have been selling gigabytes for prices in the single digits for ages already.

Mweb really only seems to exist to extort the non-tech savvy consumer base in South Africa. The kind of person who signs up for an account and just pays whatever he is charged because he doesn't know any better. They're disgusting and they don't care because they remain profitable.

yeah the one day I learned of a place here in Kimberley that resells IS data and they charged the person R200 for 3 gigs of date this is when ISP's had specials for uncapped for R200+-.
Rather than dropping the company right there and then they offered him the uncapped acount for R300 and he took it. And he could have gotten 2gigs for R29 almost 6 month earlier.
