Assassins Creed Unity, the reviews are out

Ok so I've made it to sequence 6 after playing the entirety of today on PS4 (post patch) and thankfully despite my worst expectations following the reviews I've not encountered any significant bugs or performance issues (touch wood). The NPC townsfolk can act a little weird here and there but no worse than any other open world game I've played. Haven't noticed any framerate issues either but then that kinda thing has never really bothered me so I'm not even sure if I would notice a split second drop of 10fps or less, but there's definitely not been any slide-show-like slowdowns. So colour me surprised and grateful, I'm enjoying it :). The city is gorgeous. Graphics are really outstanding.

I am really impressed with the graphics I have seen but the game clearly has performance issues hopefully they can be patched.

Me too! At sequence 3 now and its playing just fine. I did the update though after one hour of playing so I'm not sure if theres any difference.

Playing on PS4.

The control layout is a bit different compared to previous AC games but thats something I can get used to. Movement is quite fluid especially moving up building and rooftops. Descending a building is actually quite well done. So far, I'm loving the game. The level of detail in the game is quite awe-inspiring!

Theres a second patch out a well today.

Compared to Black Flag this is a dud guys - be honest... slow story line, clunky controls, poor AI.... why oh why did i waste R599??!!

Unity is milking the franchise.. and us..

Look into rogue guys. It's has a lot of the settlement charm from AC 3 and the piracy of IV. If you liked AC IV then I'm sure you will enjoy rogue. It has a lot of the good stuff from black flag but your not playing as a greedy thug this time, looks like shay has a backbone.

I haven't had much time to play since I've been stuck working around both mine and my aunts place. Hopefully I'll get my copy of unity soon and I can give a verdict between the 2.

Yeah, I've played quite a bit of Rogue now and it is awesome. There is a lot of exploration and a crapload of collectables to find. I haven't played too far in the story, but so far Shay is a pretty awesome character. Upgrading your ship and sailing the open seas is as fun as it was in Black Flag and the fact that your ship can now also be boarded makes it even cooler. Overall the game definitely feels like a mix between ACIII and Black Flag, but with little bits of earlier games in the series thrown in for good measure, e.g. grenades from Revelations (although this time they are shot with a grenade launcher attachment for the air rifle). Some of the caves I have found also remind me of the underground temples in Brotherhood, albeit on a smaller scale. The new Arctic weather on the open sea is also pretty cool, can get tough navigating through a snowstorm once the snow tornadoes start to appear.

Spent the whole weekend playing Unity. Maybe I got the dud copy because I didn't experience any of the issues everyone's going on about.
All I can say is this is a pretty awesome game, for me at any rate.

Lucky for you. Maybe you're just not at a point where it really starts happening, yet.

:D

There are definitely issues that need to be ironed out, but I'm at sequence 9 (out of 12) and the only real issue I've had was Arno getting stuck on a rooftop in which case I had to exit the game and go back in and then there's been a few unsightly NPC pop-ins. Other than that it's been a smooth and enjoyable experience.

Got this today and I must say I am impressed. Visuals are simply amazing, I can't believe how good this game looks. Haven't encountered any issues so far, but then I've played for less than 2 hours so far. Think I will only finish the intro sequences and then first play through Rogue's story before playing Unity. I really want to play Unity, but I need to finish Rogue (the story at least) before putting serious time into Unity. I will probably go back to Rogue when I feel like doing the Naval stuff (which should be fairly often at first) after I finish it.
