Official Elite Dangerous Thread

No worries, it took me quite a while to figure it out as well. It should now be listed alongside generic joystick and keyboard and mouse.

Nope... still just the same options;
keyboard mouse
keyboard only
generic joystick
empty

But may have a bigger problem in that when I configure the device via controller settings in windows, and press all the buttons to see which corresponding button light up? yeah, some don't.
I don't know if this is driver related, so first trying to get that sorted. But pretty bummed right now.

Did you copy that text file into the location I mentioned? If that doesn't work you could also PM your email address to me and I'll email the file to you.

That doesn't sound good, I hope your joystick comes right and that it's only a software issue.

FFS, I wish the game would stop deleting all of the custom files in the custombindings folder whenever it updates.

On a related, but separate topic, what is your download speed like? I'm getting a full blown 30 - 60 KB/s on my 4 Mbps line

I can't see because apparently Frontier can't code a decent launcher. The graphical glitches in my launcher overwrite everything else.

Yeah, I get the same problem. Though I find it happens worse when launching it through Steam.

Loving the joystick setup... using a combination of G13 on the left hand with all thrusters assigned, and joystick with all pitch/yaw/roll and essential buttons... but, I'm having a problem and wondering how to fix it and if really a necessity, the ability to look around.

What are you guys using, if any?
considering using the hat switch for this.

The hat is used to control the vertical and horizontal thrusters on mine.

I got myself a TrackIR.

Concept art for the Fer-De-Lance. The real thing is coming to the game in a free update. 'Soon' (date tba).

I encountered a serious problem / flaw the other night while playing with a friend as well. We were both hanging around a station and we noticed a dolphin with a massive bounty on it. The dolphin was just chilling inside the protected zone, so my friend decided to take a chance and fly just outside of the protected zone and fire inwards at the dolphin. One of his shots connected and the dolphin started to fly out and he was actually able to attack it... only on my screen the dolphin was still safely within the protected zone and I could not do the same thing on mine as my weapons didn't have the required range. I could see the dolphin being shot at, but there was obviously a massive sync issue.

Yip, completely useless hanging in a system with other people at the moment.
When there is a group of 3 of us, no one knows who actually killed the targets as the rubber band or even appear somewhere where they were not. Complete mess up playing with friends.

So... I sent an email to Frontier on the 4th of December, by the 23rd I sent a follow-up email, the 9th of January I sent another follow-up email and one again this morning. I have still not received a single reply from them...

You are not the only one who is struggling with them. Nimatek has stuttering issues with the game, making it unplayable. He has asked on the forums and emailed their support. And now is rather pissed off that he cant play a game that he paid for.

What's his system specs?

Hi everyone,

Following up on my post last week I will provide more information on our process moving forwards and dates for the next two major releases. As you’ve seen since the game’s initial release we have issued a number of point updates, the latest being 1.05 this morning. These are typically restricted to urgent and/or low risk changes and will continue on a regular basis as they allow us to respond as we need to. These aren’t scheduled in the same way as the major updates, but will be ongoing.

More significant updates allow us to add new features and content (as well as sweeping up a host of fixes and tweaks that haven’t been deemed suitable for the intermediate point releases).

Currently beta testing will be available for those who already have beta access for the main game. For players participating in the beta tests there will be a separate mechanism for playing so testing does not affect your game and that you can continue to play the retail version as well. Options for players currently without beta access to be able to purchase beta access will be available. Details will be made available nearer the time.

Depending on how the update Betas go in test, we expect them to be released to everyone a week or so after the Beta release.

As you all know we’re also working on paid expansions for the game and these will have their own beta periods as well, we’ll again make details available of how this will work as we near their release.

The first planned significant update will be 1.1 and will enter beta in the first week of February. We’ll be talking next week about how 1.1 will introduce a new way to collaborate with other players in the galaxy in preparation for 1.2’s major Wings update. We have some some good news for planners of long journeys - V1.1 will also have a significant increase in the maximum distance for the route planner. We’re currently looking at extending this to 1,000 light years!

Looking further ahead there will be a 1.2 update which is planned to enter beta testing in the first week of March. The focus for this update will be Wings and other multiplayer goodness. I’ll provide more detail in future updates.

Thanks

Michael

Don't expect wings update to come out before middle March.
