Guild Wars 2

Last 3 evenings just before 22:00 I have DC'ed and not been able to get back into the game. Hoping this is not going to become a fixture.

Also heard rumours of an expansion pack, just wondering how different an expansion pack is from patch updates.

Need to get the Legend for Bifrost, and Gift of Fortune done for my Legendary

well it'll be content and features in big package and not how we got it split up how we've had it up until now.

obviously everything is pretty much just hearsay until the 24th at PAX. thank goodness it's on a weekend, i'll actually be able to watch and enjoy it

I honestly hope it's an expansion. It's the one thing that will get me back to GW2 in a big way.

Yep, all just speculation at the moment ... and I'm a bit worried that people are running with it. The hype train is somewhere out past the moon at the moment.

BUT

Given that ANet registered a whole new trademark and logo (which hasn't happened with any living story release to date), the fact that Season 2 is concluding and we haven't gotten anywhere near Mordremoth yet, along with some very startling revelations about one of the races, I can't say it's impossible. It'll also be their first appearance at PAX since before they launched the game.

Other factors being taken into consideration also includes the fact that a rather large part of ANet's staff complement seem to have been operating under the radar for a while.

So I'm definitely hoping for an expansion. But as to when it will actually hit shelves - that's a little hard to say. It's going to be a long wait.

Here's my speculation. Given the announcement is this early in the year, the amount of time they had to work on an expansion and this will be the games third anniversary. I postulate a September 2015 release date. :D

They've probably been working on it for quite a while now - like I said, there's a large part of the team unaccounted for. But, a 3rd or 4th quarter release does seem to be the most plausible.

Only problem is - what to do in the meantime - we're at the conclusion of the current LS chapter now - an 8 month wait doesn't seem all that appealing, even if it does mean I can finish off another legendary.

I've only been playing the game off and on when they introduced living story content so a 8 month wait is fine by me (I can't be bothered to grind out legendary's). Perhaps they will reintroduce previous content to (Super Adventure Box for example) keep those who still play regularly something to do, maybe even a filler living story.

8 months to wait for new content is a bit eish...

but for me the thing that will kill it is if they do a level increase that will make my newly acquired ascended stuff null and void.

that will make me leave gw2.

I like the game because it is not a gear treadmill, I got the ascended stuff because I like doing fractals so it helps.

by making it null and void ergh. I dunno.

will wait and see

I don't think they will do a level increase. Maybe something like the Paragon system from Diablo 3?

look i'm reserving all judgment til next Saturday when they talk about it at length at PAX South.

once I got some info i'll start drawing some conclusions

What I really hope to see in GW2 are the following:

* Revamp of all major bosses and luitenants (Like they did with Tequatl)
* Change up the areas where bosses spawn. (Semi Randomised locales for bosses to spawn & attack)
* This is to allow for more varied encounters and to make it feel like the battle for Tyria is finally warming up with the dragons taking a
more offensive role
* Also to allow for multiple bosses spawning at the same time in different locales - attacking small settlements and towns.
* The addition of Hard Mode - Instanced maps for 5/10 players raids to clear out the entire area - All areas become lvl 80 with enemies
upscaled to veteran, elites, champions and legendary levels.
* Hardcore end game content - The Underworld, new dungeons, etc.
* Legendary Events: As this implies, a series of hardcore events for veteran players to complete.
* More armour sets! MOOOOAAAAR ARMOUR!
* More LAND! MOOOOAAAAAR LAND!
* More events!!!

I just hope they don't spend too much time on old content and instead focus on making the new areas a better experience. Really looking forward to the live stream on Saturday.
